Kathryn Williams & Withered Hand

Sat 04 Oct at 7:30pm Corn Exchange, Haddington Haddstock & The Brunton concert in Haddington

Willson Williams witnesses the meeting of two likeminded musicians who’ve built their successful, independent careers on inventive folk instrumentation, reflective and sincere lyricism, and not a small amount of self-deprecation. Their modest confessionals, written poetically and over nostalgic and atmospheric melodies, are as relatable as ever, and together they find new ways to unpack their feelings.
With support from Meursalt and a Battle of the Bands finalist.

Event Description

Prolific singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams and recently reinvigorated troubadour Dan Willson (aka Withered Hand) collaborated to produce the album, Willson Williams, that was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year Awards 2024.

Dan Willson is Scotland's acclaimed singer songwriter Withered Hand. He has released three albums and a number of EPs over the last 15 years and has toured internationally, amassing a devoted following while staying close to his roots in the underground music scene.

Kathryn Williams is a Mercury Music prize nominated English singer songwriter who has released 16 albums. She has collaborated with poet Dame Carol Ann Duffy, author Laura Barnett and written songs with Paul Weller, Neill MacColl and Michele and Romeo Stodart, to name just a few.

“He’s up there with fellow Scots Belle and Sebastian; his tunes full of warm, woozy singsong charm.” Rolling Stone on Withered Hand

“Williams’ songs scan like short stories” MOJO

Meursault defies categorisation - from scratchy, electronic beginnings to string laden torch songs and pounding alt rock. Despite this, the distinct voice of Neil Pennycook and the unique playing of his collaborators is always immediately recognisable as the Meursault sound. Critically acclaimed, this is a live act not to be missed or soon forgotten.

There will be an additional support band from the East Lothian secondary schools, Battle of the Bands competition.

The Brunton and Haddstock have partnered to produce a series of concerts at Haddington Corn Exchange in 2025-26 with the aim of bringing a high calibre, interesting and eclectic showcase of artists and bands to East Lothian.

Running Time: 2h 30m approx.
