Bodies of Water

Sun 30 Mar at 2:00pm & 6:00pm Corn Exchange, Haddington A unique dance performance in Haddington

Bodies of Water invites us to immerse ourselves in a unique performance experience, as we explore and celebrate this transformative element that connects all living things.

Event Description

BOW Collective

Bodies of Water is a playful, multi-sensory performance experience weaving together movement, choreography, water, objects and sound. We encounter water in our everyday lives - through our bodies and environment.

Bodies of Water was originally created by Aya Kobayashi, Nicolette Macleod, Saffy Setohy and Joanna Young.
The Brunton performance will be performed by Saffy Setohy and Laura Bradshaw.

“Evocative, primal and really beautiful… serves as a gentle reminder to us of our small place in the vast world, but also, of our sharing, care and interconnectivity.” Fjord Review

“By swimming in the sea I cross the normal boundaries. I’m no longer on land but part of the body of water making up all the oceans of the world”.  Amy Liptrot, The Outrun

“For unnumbered years it has welled from the rock and flowed away. It does nothing, absolutely nothing, but be itself.”  Nan Shepherd, The Living Mountain

Limited capacity, performed in the round.

After a short guided warmup, the group will explore themes from the performance through tasks, games and guided improvisation, working with imagery and tasks from the performance.

They will work with some of the soundtracks from the piece and explore how the materials in the set have shaped and informed the choreography and performed movement.
