Event Description

Su-a Lee is one of Scotland’s most charismatic musical personalities. A classical cellist who refuses to be pigeonholed, she collaborates with a wide range of musicians in the fields of classical, folk and jazz.
Following her rapturously received concert during last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe she has curated a short series of concerts by musicians she particularly admires.

Hamish Napier & Su-a Lee – piano, flute, voice & cello

An extraordinary duo featuring cello, wooden flute, whistle, vocals, piano and the musical singing saw, with a special blend of traditional Scottish music, unique interpretations of classical pieces and contemporary folk compositions.

Su-a Lee (Scottish Chamber Orchestra) is one of Scotland’s leading cellists renowned for her high profile, cross-genre collaborations. She performs with the daring and highly innovative Mr McFall’s Chamber. Her debut solo album Dialogues was nominated for both a Scots Trad Music Award and SAY Award, as well as receiving the Top of the World accolade in international world music magazine Songlines.

Hamish Napier is a Scottish folk multi-instrumentalist, educator and composer inspired by the heritage and nature of his native landscape, reflected in his acclaimed Strathspey Trilogy of solo albums: The River, The Railway and The Woods (STMA Album of the Year 2020).

“An absolute gem in this year’s Fringe, this concert showed what fun can be had through creativity and musical collaboration, particularly when the musicians have such admiration and respect for one another as these two.”
