Mary Hussain leads a quiet life at home in Dover with her husband Ahmed. Now in her early 60s, she converted to Islam when they married and took the name Faitma - a dedication to her husband and commitment to their relationship. Following his unexpected death, Mary is tidying away Ahmed's belongings when she makes a shocking discovery; across the Channel in Calais lies their marriage's greatest secret. Swapping the crumbling white cliffs of Dover for the French shoreline, Mary is compelled to uncover Ahmed's deceit and her search for understanding, even in her grief, has remarkable consequences. With an extraordinary performance from Joanna Scanlan, this devastating debut drama tells a very human story of connection with great sensitivity and an affecting tenderness.
